Part-time Job Registration

D-2(Student) visa holders could have a part-time job for up to 20 hours per week. (20 hours per week during semesters, no limits during the summer and winter break) However, they need to acquire permission from Ulsan Immigration Office prior to their start of the work. Should the part-time job become the main purpose of stay, permission will not be granted, and the status of stay may be changed accordingly.

  • Requirement

    • Average grade of C (2.0) or above, for the previous semester
  • Process

    • Prepare following required documents for application for Part-time Job Registration
      • Application Form
      • Alien Registration Card
      • Passport
      • Transcript
      • Standard Labour Contract
      • Language Proficiency Test Result(TOEFL, TOPIK)
      • Copy of Certificate of Business Registration
      • 시간제취업확인서
    • Visit the office of International Affairs with the documents to have them checked
    • Report to the Immigration Office
  • Requirement

    • Anyone who has not acquired the permission, or had violated the allowance conditions in the past, will not be allowed to work.
    • You cannot work for the companies or employers who are restricted of visa issuance due to illegal employment in the past. Also, you cannot work for companies or employers in manufacturing or construction field specified in their business certificate.

      If the student submits TOPIK level 4(or KIIP 4) or higher, working at manufacturing companies may be permitted.

  • Penalties for Working without Permission

    • Both the students and their employers could be subjected to at least 3-years of prison term or a 20 million won fine.
  • Violation Treatment(Working without permission)

    • Students and employer both should be asked for as least 3-years of prison labor or 20 million won fine

  • Working hours

    • Up to 20 hours (undergraduate students/Korean Language Center students), 30 hours(graduate students), from Monday through Friday during a regular school term, up to two places of employment(only D-2 visa holders).
    • There is no limit for working hours on official holidays, weekends, and during the vacations.
